Yaara Bou Melhem is an acclaimed Australian writer, director and producer who makes films that examine some of the most urgent social, political and technological issues of our time. Her work has received two UN Media Peace Awards, two New York Film & Television Festival Awards and six Walkley Awards.
After 15 years as an investigative journalist and foreign correspondent with SBS Dateline, ABC Foreign Correspondent and Al Jazeera English, Yaara turned to filmmaking with works including UNSEEN SKIES (2021) (SFIFLM, SFF, CPH DOX, Full Frame, MDOCS) which explores surveillance and artificial intelligence, art-true crime series THE WHITELEY ART SCANDAL (2023) (ABC, NETFLIX), and YURLU | COUNTRY (2025) (SFF, MIFF, FIFDH), a collaboration with First Nations Elder Maitland Parker about his fight to heal the largest contaminated site in the Southern Hemisphere. The multi award-winning film’s impact campaign included a Side Event at the UN Human Rights Council and Aboriginal Banjima People launching litigation for the remediation of their lands.
Her acclaimed shorts range from following the creation of a secular democracy in war-torn Syria to profiling disinformation campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Maria Ressa. She holds degrees in Journalism and Law.
Tom Bannigan ACS

Tom Bannigan ACS is an award-winning cinematographer who has worked in documentary for theatrical and broadcast as well as art installations. He has won a number of cinematography accolades including a Golden Tripod for his documentary work from the Australian Cinematography Society.
Two of his most recent films, “Unseen Skies” and “Delikado” played at some of the most prestigious film festivals in the world including CPH:DOCS, Hot Docs, Full Frame, SFF, MIFF, Sheffield, Doc Edge, Millennium Docs and more. He won an award for best cinematography at SIMA and was a finalist at Millennium Docs against gravity.
Matisse Walkden-Brown
Impact Producer & Production Manager
Matisse is an impact campaigner, specialising in storytelling and strategy. She headed up Greenpeace in the Pacific for four years, worked in mainstream television and radio, and has managed the communications team of a diplomatic agency.
From television commercials, to economic development programs, to workshop series for budding activists, her focus is on telling stories that drive positive real-world change. In 2025, she participated in Documentary Australia’s Impact Producer Program.

Our team has a ten-year record in creating compelling, visually rich narratives through human stories that examine some of the most urgent social, political and technological issues of our time. Industry and festival awards our films have received include the coveted Walkley Documentary Award, FIFDH Vision for Human Rights Award and AACTA Awards.
Our films have been selected for prestigious festivals including CPH DOX, Sydney Film Festival, Full Frame and MIFF. We screen on Netflix, ABC, SBS, Al Jazeera, France TV and more. We work with global talent and creatives from our home on Dharawal Country, on the east coast of Australia.
